Betclic is not one of the best known bookmakers out there. Founded in 2005, it didn’t have much time to rise like the other competitors which had a very early start in the betting market. However, Betclic is definitely a force to be reckoned with and I was very impressed by the design and features of their mobile web interface as soon as I opened it.
The Home Screen
Upon entering the website from within your phone’s browser you will be faced with a two options screen, allowing you to choose between Sports Betting and Casino. We are interested in the sports section for now so that’s where I went and encountered a very pleasant and friendly home screen user interface. You can scroll down through 6 useful widgets, starting with a beautiful swipe-able football pictures widget and continuing with Live betting, Quick combined, Last minute, Popular bets and My favourites.
At first glance you can clearly see whoever developed this web app tried hard to be very original and create a unique interface. You’ve got the two most used buttons at the top of the screen: Home which turns into Back, if you’re not on the initial screen and Account which holds quite a few interesting options and information, like your balance, your current bets, your settled bets and your past transactions. There is also the options to close your account temporarily or permanently or even exclude yourself forever.
At the bottom of the screen you have 5 icons, conveniently placed for you, from where you can gain quick access to the Sports section, Live section, Home or Selection (betslip). There is also an icon called Other which redirects you to a page that lets you select your language and also gives you several information about Betclic and betting related issues.
They’ve split this part into 3 steps and it’s all very easy to complete. You have to fill in your account details in the first step, like username, password, e-mail address and phone number. As always make sure you pick a hard to guess password in case there are any fraudulent attempts to access your account. In the second step you’re asked about more personal stuff, like name and address, so be sure to write those down correctly, otherwise you might encounter problems while depositing money. Finally, in the last step you have to accept all their terms and agreements and also add a promotional code. If you don’t have one, check their desktop version of the website since there is always a promotion there.
This is a big plus for Betclic. I really like their mobile options for depositing money on their web app. You’ve got all the three major options available : Credit/Debit Cards (VISA and MasterCard), e-Commerce website ( Skrill, which is the most popular) and paysafecard. On top of that you also have Bank Transfer and a link to Other methods. I’ve rarely seen such diversity in other apps or mobile web interfaces. Most of them have only 2-3 options available, while for the rest you have to access the desktop portal.
Placing a bet is very simple and standard. Once you click on an odd, it will be added to the selection menu where you can bet straight away or use it as a betslip and ignore it for the time being while you’re searching for other bets. Every pick you make will stay in the selection screen and once you’re ready, simply place the stake you want either in Simple bets or Accumulator bet, depending on your choosing and hit Bet now.
All in all this is one of the best apps I’ve seen recently for mobile devices with touchscreen capabilities. The design, the colors, the ease of access just makes the experience a whole lot pleasant. I hope other developers will take notice of this great interface and resort to their creativity when employed by bookmakers, rather than just using the same old template, with different colors, over and over again.
